With the coronavirus claiming the lives of 9 Washington residents and with a rising infection rate, Region 99 is debating if we should go or not?
I went to a Sailor Boom Party hoping to see the typical characteristics of a DJ: music, turntables, microphones, and of course loud music . What I found was an alternate anime’ universe ran by 2 Phenomenal Women and at one moment…… I lost sense of who I was……
As I approached this building for the second time, I felt a renewal of energy; a resurgence in my soul that told me, ‘despite all that you went through in 2019, 2020 is filled with new opportunities and goals; especially for the Black!’. Renewed and invigorated, I entered these doors and my spirit led me to the Black creatives who made this event action packed for the 8th (my second) time in a row….
Anime NYC has been a staple in NYC for at least 2-3 years in regards to anime’ and manga. We’ve taken pictures of cosplay and focused on the latest and greatest in anime-inspired video games, and various authors in the manga, anime, and the voice-over business and while that will always be recorded by the wondrous staff, we from time to time, manage to hear the gems (wisdom) dropped from game changers in the industry. …

Region 99 had the pleasure of speaking with one of the founders of this event, Michael Mota and he’s determined to make Sopranos Con an event you can’t refuse.

I met some cool people for sure, but now it’s feeling routine. Maybe I’ve just been going too long, or maybe next year just needs something special to blow my mind out of the water. Only time will tell.
These conventions are supposed to be fun, they’re supposed to be a holiday for me to celebrate everything we love about pop culture, yet for the most part, Sunday’s 2019’s New York Comic Con was an absolute nightmare. Honestly, it makes me question whether or not it’s worth returning next year in 2020….
This time I decided to write about the magic and awesomeness of how pop culture has blended into the mainstream of society. I decided to do this after I saw something that caught my attention on Thursday. And because of what I saw, I now feel that pop culture has fully integrated into the mainstream of society….
