Naseed Gifted and PB Soldier: A “Gifted Enterprise” Worth Exploring…
On September 27, 2020, I had the privilege of attending the graphic novel premiere of PB Soldier, located at the vegan based gym, Aqua PHit in Newark, NJ. The event, evolved into so much more as this gathering of black excellence turned into an eclectic gathering of creatives and fans who came to show support in the age of COVID-19. Masked up, attendees gave positive energy and showed their support as they purchased the Graphic Novel in droves.

Allen Watson
Before I continue to discuss the event, I have to give props to the establishment. Founded by former international basketball player, personal trainer and fellow vegan, Allen Watson; he and his partners created a health food - vegan establishment for the community named Blueberry Café and The Zucchini Bar. The gym, Aqua PHit, was later added on. As Watson states, it “just made sense” as they combined fitness and healthy eating as clients are striving to reach their goals for health and wellness.
With news and research stating that some urban areas in New Jersey are considered to be food deserts; Aqua PHit and its neighboring establishments, The Zucchini Bar and the Blueberry Café, eliminating those statistics by creating vegan based centers, showcasing gourmet meals with a plant based touch. His goal is to establish additional chains in Newark to spread his awareness of healthy eating, vegan style.

The creator of PB Soldier, Naseed Gifted, is just a marvel as his creations speak for themselves. Electrical Engineer, Administrator, Creative Director, and Writer; his accolades continue to grow as his powers are just as endless as his work. His energy continues to spread across the US also as film creators, both nationally and internationally, submit their work to his famed events, The Khem Animation Film Festival and the Khem Comic Book Festival.
With the release of his science fiction graphic novel, PB Soldier (Ch. 1- 7), the story follows rouge assassin turned hero, Nate Cummings, as he uses his computer hacking skills to fight ‘The Establishment’ while at the same time learns about his past, his present and how his actions and future are interconnected. Stated from Gifted, “…His ancestors are trying to hack into him…” for the better.
Having a chance to speak with him, he discussed the future of the PB Soldier franchise with the release of Jazen, an assassin and former resistance member, alongside Nate, who is also fighting against “The Establishment”. Jazen’s release is scheduled for March 2021, followed by the second volume of PS Soldier slated for November 2021.
I’ve been following the adventures of Naseed Gifted for quite some time. Naseed, as his namesake dictates, is exceptional. From his entrepreneurship abilities as creative director of Phocused Black Star (PBS) Media, to him being an administrator at the famous Malcom X Shabazz High School, and being an organizer for many STEM related events in Newark, NJ; he is a man of many talents. Also featured in the African American Literature Book Club (AALBC), The Associated Press, Black Enterprise and a host of other media news networks identifying and showcasing his drive and abilities; Naseed Gifted’s masterpiece, PB Soldier, and his media company are only the beginning as he and his crew continue to ‘gift us’ with their creativity through various media channels to ensure that our ‘own vision’ is properly represented and respected. For PBS Media, they’re just getting started.
